Core Arboretum |
Desciption: | The Core arboretum is an enthralling 75 acre forest located within walking distance of downtown Morgantown. Established in 1948 on the slopes overlooking the Monongahela river. There are multiple loop trails with benches and a small outdoor amphitheater. Many of the trees are identified with labels for those who wish to increase their forest knowledge. A special attraction includes what is thought to be the state’s 2nd largest Chinquapin oak. Trails can be accessed from a parking lot on top of the hill off of Hwy 7 or from the old B&O railroad line running along the river. |
